::: The 11th Freiburg Marathon 2014:::



Today was the " D" Day.

 
The 11th Freiburg Marathon 2014. With the Motto Run and Rock.
 After a lot of training and anticipation, some finally gathered the necessary courage they needed to run, some gave up, giving freedom to their „innere Schwein", some thought it was reasonable, more than doubts the best decision, it is... So next year, if God’s willing, they will participate.








Now the official race is 42 kilometers. Many ran in group „Staffel" many did the half marathon and others did the complete marathon. Some came to compete, others just to participate and the real people, the so called professionals came to win.
To avoid crowding, the organizers decided to make people run in schedules, each time the whistle was blown..." Oya come see race, na running be this".
They were also pacemakers. People who had a fix time to run.
Animation was organized by the Local radio station SW3 and they invited 42 bands to keep the town funky. It was really fun. To see families cheering  their love ones.

 Of course there were dads doing the same too. 



Lovers running hand in hand, friends and also colleagues .



There was beer, cold beer, and children enjoying their ice cream…yes ice cream you heard me right!
The weather was wonderful today in Freiburg, a little bit too hot for a marathon but a perfect combination if the crowd and organizers are taken into consideration.




The first male to arrive at the finishing line for the half marathon was Manuel Stöckert with 1:05:02



The First woman was Susanne Hahn with 1:14:26
And for the full marathon the first man is Lukas Nägele with 2:32:49
The first female Svenja Mann 3:00:51
The babies and thier papies and mamies did arrive safely too.





And after waiting for 2:20 my mr fantastic finally arrived.

 
The most important thing was to reach the finishing line. And bravo to all the beautiful people that participated this year and to those of us who did not make it too. Next year we will be there!

    It was fun inspite of the sweating. Bands almost every 50m, friends here and there to cheer up the runners, smiles from known and unknown faces. I can't afford to miss the show next year God willing. Thanks Thelma for this opportunity to blog.
