:: Inspiring Faces of Our Time:::

Dear readers,

on again at a unique occasion. Just like most of you out there, I have been contemplating what this blog is all about and what it means or should mean to you and me. I must confess that I ended up with more questions than answers. Nevertheless, I thought it would be nice to share an idea OUR column "Inspiring Faces of our time or Great men of our time".

Of course, when we call men and women 'great', we do so to honour some idea, principle or belief they have displayed either in action or in the words they have expressed. These actions or words must have had tremendous effect either in us, or we must have observed the effects on others with great enthusiasm.

I had the opportunity to listen briefly to a great man. Gathering a few words that were more inspiring than a hundred books. I had the chance of listening to Dr Chris Fomunyoh early this year at the Albert-Ludwig-Universität Freiburg, Germany, where he gave a talk addressing the political situation in Cameroon and Africa. 'Constitution without constitutionalism' were words he used to describe the near lawlessness that characterizes our pseudo-democratic societies in Africa.

A widespread tendency in most corrupt and chaotic communities is that things gets worse. They actually depreciate not because of the absence of viable men and women capable of bringing a change, but because of the loss of HOPE. Hope was exactly what Dr Chris Fomunyoh was able to convey to me and other listeners. The charismatic politician spoke gently and very convincingly, shedding hope where there was not anymore, giving a positive vision to the struggle for a better country and continent.
Today is the birthday of Dr Chris Fomunyoh and I pray God will continue to bless him so that many more Cameroonians and Africans will have the opportunity to benefit from his experience because the greatest fuel and engine people need is HOPE.

Happy birthday Dr Chris Fomunyoh

  2. Very uplifting, and one more sign that all is not lost for our dear country Cameroon. We truly need leaders that can lift up our people and country.
